CARBONDALE, Ill. — On Friday, Southern Illinois University Carbondale officially inaugurated its innovative BioLaunch laboratory. This state-of-the-art facility spans 10,000 square feet and represents a significant investment in life sciences research, with a total budget of $7.2 million.
The project garnered substantial support through a $2.7 million grant from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity’s Wet Lab Program. Notably, BioLaunch is part of the larger Illinois Food Entrepreneurship Research and Manufacturing (iFERM) Hub, which serves as an advanced research and training environment for faculty members, students, start-ups, and established businesses throughout the region.
