In a society that frequently enough celebrates resilience and perseverance, the depiction of Black women as “superwomen” is both admired and fraught with complexity. Their indispensable contributions to families, communities, and workplaces are widely recognized; however, recent research published in Wiley Online Library sheds light on significant health disparities affecting this group. This study explores the paradox of lauded strength—how societal pressures for Black women to consistently exhibit toughness can lead to serious health consequences. As discussions around equity and wellness evolve, this research challenges us to reconsider what true strength means amid systemic obstacles related to race and gender.
