“The Butler” began filming in July and is based on the true story of Eugene Allen (played by Forest Whitaker), a black butler who worked in the White House for over three decades. Winfrey plays Eugene’s wife, starring alongside a strong cast of actors including Lenny Kravitz, Jane Fonda, Alan Rickman and Minka Kelly. The film has been shooting in Louisiana for the last few months.
Daniels told USA Today that the role came at the right time for Oprah who “was looking for something and we’re friendly and we were just trying to figure out the right thing.”
The last film Winfrey starred in was 1998’s Beloved.
Winfrey talked about her performance in “The Butler” and Forest Whitaker’s smooching skills during a visit to “CBS This Morning.”
“I felt pretty good about it,” she said. “Forest is a good kisser, how about that? Thank you, Keisha Whitaker,” she told Gayle King.
