Mega Millions Jackpot, After 10 drawings without a jackpot winner, the top Mega Millions prize has reached $115 million for Friday.
In California, the lump sum distribution of that prize would be $63.1 million, or $47.325 million after federal taxes. The annuity after federal taxes would be $3.3 million a year for 26 years.
The multi-state lottery game last yielded a jackpot on Oct. 1, when a ticket holder in Maryland claimed the $189 million pot. That prize had been building for more than two months of twice-weekly drawings.
In mid-October, the Mega Millions procedure was changed to allow for bigger and faster-growing jackpots.
The jackpot for Powerball, the other multi-state game, is at $87 million for Saturday’s drawing.
Mega Millions is played in 43 states. A ticket is $1, and the player picks six numbers. Drawings are Tuesdays and Fridays, at 7 p.m. Pacific time.
