Mariah Carey New Album Out July 23, 2013, Mariah Carey fans will have to wait even longer to hear her new 2013 album.
Last night, the “We Belong Together” songstress tweeted that her new album The Art of Letting Go will not come out July 23 as announced.
“While making this album, I got so immersed in the creative process that I just don’t feel like I would be doing it justice to release it on 7/23,” she stated. “I’d rather not exclude meaningful songs. I want to give you this album as it’s meant to be heard. When I’m ready, you’ll be the first 2 know!”
Though album delays are usually label decisions based on underperforming singles or a too-competitive release date, Mimi’s “#Beautiful” featuring Miguel has been slowly climbing the Billboard Charts, and the biggest album to be released on July 23 is Selena Gomez’s Stars Dance, according to Pause & Play.
Thus, it seems as though the pushback is truly because of the ongoing creative process. Just three days ago, Carey posted an Instagram photo of her dog “editing the lyrics,” showing that she was still writing new music for The Art of Letting Go.
Carey’s fans don’t seem to be too disappointed by the news, which is fortunate for the former American Idol judge.
“We can wait. Your creativity is A-Mazing. Can’t wait to hear the album when it’s all finished :),” one fan tweeted at Carey. “Take all the time you need beautiful!!!” said another.
This is not the first time The Art of Letting Go has been delayed. The album was originally rumored to come out last year, with delays happening in January and March of this year as well.
