Heidi Klum 40 Years Old

Heidi Klum 40 Years Old, Supermodels make a living based on beauty. But if you think that their careers end when they become 30, a growing number of women like Christie Brinkley and Heidi Klum are proving you gorgeously wrong. They shared their secrets for staying fit and fabulous over 40 during interviews with Us Weekly on Jan. 15. Plus: Get exclusive tips from Heidi’s celebrity trainer and diet guru David Kirsch below.

“I like to do things and have fun,” said 59-year-old Christie.

Her calorie-burning, toning activities including riding a bike, skiing and dancing. She’s also a believer in the benefits of the Total Fitness gym.

“I really go use the Total Fitness gym,” she confirmed. “That’s not just advertising.”

As for diet, Christie told Shape magazine recently that she’s a vegetarian who maintains her weight by aiming for a colorful diet. Her goal: “Go for as many colors as possible in a day.”

And in addition to the Total Fitness Gym, she does yoga.

“I feel like in the way that yoga prepares a body for any eventuality that could befall you in life the Total Gym is the same concept. It is constantly stretching and strengthening,” Christie told Shape.

At 40, Heidi Klum makes her exercise time into kid time.

“I had more time to go to the gym” before I had children, she admitted to Us Weekly.

“Now having kids, I am trying to integrate their activity into my life.” Among her favorites: Bouncing on a trampoline and swimming in the pool.

For diet, Heidi began the year with the Master Cleanse detox, according to Shape magazine.

The weight loss plain includes fresh lemon, maple syrup and cayenne pepper drinks. She then added in healthier choices including hard-boiled eggs, juicy tomatoes and avocado.

Normally, however, Heidi works with celebrity trainer and diet guru David Kirsch. David believes in combining that workout with diligent diets, as described in his book “The Ultimate New York Body Plan: Just 2 weeks to a total transformation.”

In an exclusive interview on Jan. 17, David told us about his views on diets.

“The idea is to avoid processed carbs because they are too easily broken down to sugars and stored as fats. You want good carbs found in whole grains and veggies,” he emphasized.

Dr. Mehmet Oz recently discussed alkaline versus acid foods on his show, and David agrees that balancing your food intake with more alkaline foods can supercharge weight loss.

“You don’t want your levels to be too acidic so incorporating alkaline foods into your diet will help balance the ph levels of your body,” he explained. “Some alkaline foods that I love are: beets, carrots, turnips, broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, kale and spinach.”

As for exercise, David, who authored “Sound Mind, Sound Body: David Kirsch’s Ultimate 6 Week Fitness Transformation for Men and Women,” told me that he recommends intensity for advanced exercisers. However, “beginners should start with duration before intensity and as you become more proficient then increase the intensity.”

He’s put his workouts into fitness DVDs: “David Kirsch’s Sound Mind Sound Body Ultimate Fitness Boot Camp” and “The Ultimate New York Body Plan.”
