Dehumidifier Recall, More than 2 million dehumidifiers are being recalled because they can overheat, smoke and catch fire.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission says the recalled dehumidifiers have been linked to 46 fires and more than $2 million in property damage. All were manufactured by Gree Electric Appliances, but they carry a variety of brand names, including Danby, De’Longhi, Fedders, Fellini, Frigidaire, Gree, Kenmore, Norpole, Premiere, Seabreeze, SoleusAir and SuperClima.

The commission says no injuries have been reported as a result of the fires.

The dehumidifiers were sold nationwide at major retailers including Home Depot, Kmart and Lowe’s between January 2005 and August. Some also were sold in Canada.

Sizes range from 20 to 70 pints. More details, including model numbers, are at the commission website.

Consumers who find the dehumidifiers in their homes should immediately turn off and unplug them. Consumers may contact Gree online or call 866-853-2802 for a full refund, the company said in a press release.
