Daytona 500, You can tell everybody that Aloe Blacc is the man who will sing the national anthem for the 56th running of the Daytona 500. Blacc, whose song The Man rose to prominence while featured on recent Beats By Dre commercials, will bring a pop music presence to Daytona International Speedway. His voice can also be heard on Avicii’s smash hit Wake Me Up.
The singer’s first major album is scheduled to drop March 11 — just a few weeks after the Daytona 500.
“Aloe Blacc is recognized around the globe for his smooth vocals, so it’s only fitting he perform at the ‘World Center of Racing’ in front of more than 100,000 race fans and millions more watching on Fox,” Daytona International Speedway president Joie Chitwood III said. “We look forward to hearing his moving rendition prior to the start of NASCAR’s richest and most prestigious race.”
Blacc also had a hit with the song I Need A Dollar in 2010.
The Daytona 500 honorary starter is actor Gary Sinise. The grand marshal has not been announced.
